Why is my Coinbase realized gain/loss inaccurate in Mezzi?
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Context
You may notice that the realized gain/loss figures shown in Mezzi for your Coinbase account do not match what you see in other tools. This is most common when crypto was transferred into Coinbase from an external wallet or another platform before being sold.
Answer
Mezzi currently does not reliably calculate cost basis for certain Coinbase crypto transfer-in and transfer-out transactions. When crypto is moved into Coinbase from another wallet or platform and then sold, Mezzi may not be able to reconcile the sale to the correct original cost basis based on the transaction data it receives. As a result, realized gain/loss amounts for these transactions can be inaccurate.
Because of this limitation, the realized gain/loss shown in Mezzi for affected Coinbase transactions should not be relied on as final for tax purposes.
Our team is actively reviewing how to handle these transactions more accurately in the product. If you believe your Coinbase gain/loss figures are affected, please reach out to our support team so we can investigate your specific situation:
