Why Do Some of My Funds Show as "Remaining Funds" in Exposure X-ray?

Last updated: October 8, 2026

Overview

A fund shows under Remaining funds when Mezzi can't see what it holds. That usually happens with employer-plan funds that use internal codes, private or non-traded funds, and custom or direct-indexing portfolios. Your balance and net worth are still correct. Only the look-through breakdown is incomplete, and our team can usually fix it by matching the fund to a comparable public fund once you approve it.

📌 What You Need to Know

  • What X-ray does: Exposure X-ray looks inside each fund you own and adds up the underlying stocks, bonds, sectors and regions. It needs the fund's published holdings to do that.

  • Why a fund lands in Remaining funds: the fund has no public ticker, or its holdings aren't published. Collective investment trusts in 401(k) and 403(b) plans, stable-value funds, private real estate and venture funds, and separately managed accounts are the most common examples.

  • What's still accurate: the account balance, your net worth and the fund's value. What's missing is the breakdown of what's inside it, so your stock/bond split, sector and region views can be understated.

  • How we fix it: our team can match the fund to a public fund with a similar strategy (for example, a large-cap US index fund for an S&P 500 trust). We propose the match first and only apply it once you reply to approve. The match affects the X-ray breakdown only. It doesn't change your balance or the fund's name.

  • You can't set the match yourself at the moment. Support applies it for you.

Important Notes

  • Manually added accounts: we can't apply a fund match to holdings in manually added accounts yet. Funds in those accounts stay in Remaining funds for now.

  • A fund that has a ticker but no available price may show the message "We currently do not support market prices for this security or asset type." That's a pricing gap rather than a look-through gap. Email us about it the same way.

  • If your whole account shows as cash rather than a list of funds, that's a different problem. See why your holdings show as cash.
