Why Does My Account Balance in Mezzi Differ from My Brokerage Statement?
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Context
It is common to observe slight differences between the account balance shown in Mezzi and the balance reported by your brokerage (e.g., Fidelity). While this may cause concern, these discrepancies are typically expected and normal.
Answer
Minor differences between Mezzi and your brokerage account balances can occur due to several factors, including:
Pricing feed variations: Mezzi relies on a third-party financial data provider whose stock prices may slightly differ from those used by your brokerage or other platforms like Google Finance. These small pricing discrepancies can lead to variations in portfolio valuations.
Market data update timing: Near market close, pricing information may not update simultaneously across all platforms. Consequently, account values might not align exactly at any given moment, even if the underlying holdings are the same.
Recent trade processing: Trades executed during the trading day may be reflected at different times on various platforms, causing temporary differences in account balances.
Brokerage data reporting issues: Your brokerage may experience temporary data reporting issues that cause balance discrepancies in Mezzi. These typically resolve automatically within 24-48 hours as the data refreshes.
Generally, these discrepancies resolve once pricing data fully updates after market close. If you notice a significant difference 2–3 hours after market close, please contact our support team for further assistance.
