How to Fix Incorrect Account Tax Status in Mezzi
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Overview
If the Mezzi AI is incorrectly classifying one or more of your accounts as tax-advantaged, it is likely because the tax status tag on those accounts needs to be updated. The AI pulls account information directly from your profile settings, so correcting the tax status on each affected account will ensure the AI reflects your accounts accurately.
🧠Steps to Update Your Account Tax Status
Follow these steps to review and correct the tax status of any account:
Go to your Profile.
Select Accounts (assets & liabilities).
Find the account you want to update and click the three dots (⋯) next to it.
Select Edit.
Update the tax status to the correct setting.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Repeat these steps for each account that has an incorrect tax status.

💡 Why This Matters
The Mezzi AI uses your account settings — including tax status — to generate personalized insights and advice. If an account is incorrectly tagged as tax-advantaged, the AI may provide inaccurate analysis, such as misclassifying accounts in summaries or giving tax-related recommendations that don't apply to your situation. Keeping your account details accurate ensures the AI's guidance is relevant and reliable for your financial picture.
Important Notes
The AI reflects your account data as it is currently tagged in your profile. Changes to tax status take effect after you save and may require a new AI chat session to be reflected in responses.
You can update the tax status of any account you have edit access to directly from your Profile settings.
If multiple accounts are affected, you will need to update each one individually.
