How to Add Cash to Mezzi
Last updated: October 5, 2026
Overview
To track cash, savings, or a USD balance in Mezzi, add it as a USD holding inside a manually added bank or brokerage account. Mezzi then shows it as cash, valued at $1 per unit. If you previously entered that cash under Other assets, delete the old entry afterward so the same money isn't counted twice.
🧠How to Add Cash
Start from your Profile tab: select Accounts (assets & liabilities), then tap Connect a new account. Then:
Choose Brokerage or bank.
Tap Add manually.
Create a new account: tap Create new account, give it a name (for example, "Cash savings"), choose the account type and owner, and tap Create Account.
Tap Add holdings.
Search and select USD.
Enter the amount, then tap Add.
Tap Save.

Your cash now appears in the account as a USD holding.
💡 Why This Matters
Cash entered under Other assets isn't treated as cash. It shows under Other assets instead of with the rest of your cash. Adding it as a USD holding fixes that.
Moving cash out of Other assets: add the cash using the steps above, then delete the old entry. See How to Delete a Manually Added Asset in Mezzi.
Adding cash to an account you already created: in step 3, select that account on the Choose account screen instead of tapping Create new account.
Important Notes
Manually added accounts don't sync. When your balance changes, update the USD amount yourself. See How to Edit Holdings for Manually Added Accounts in Mezzi.
Mezzi shows balances in US dollars only. See Does Mezzi Support Accounts Held in Other Currencies?
If your bank or brokerage is supported, connecting it is usually better than adding cash manually, because connected balances update automatically.
