How to Add a Home or Rental Property, and What to Do About Its Mortgage
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Overview
You can add a home, rental or other property to Mezzi manually so its value counts toward your net worth. When the flow asks whether the property has a mortgage, add the mortgage there only if it isn't already in Mezzi. If you've already connected the lender, skip that step, because adding it again would count the loan twice.
🧠How to Add a Property
Go to Profile → Accounts and tap Connect a new account.
Choose Add real estate.
Enter the property details: type, purchase price, purchase date and current value.
When asked about a mortgage:
Mortgage already connected (you linked your lender, such as Chase or Rocket Mortgage): skip adding it here.
Mortgage not in Mezzi yet: add it here with its current balance.
No mortgage: skip it.
Save. The property appears with your other assets, and its value counts in your net worth.
💡 Why This Matters
Real estate is often the largest asset people own, and leaving it out understates your net worth and skews Mezzi AI's advice on allocation, liquidity and retirement.
Tell Mezzi AI which loan goes with which home
A connected mortgage can't be attached to a property you added manually. If you'd like Mezzi AI to know which loan belongs to which home, add a note on the property, for example "Mortgage is the Chase loan ending 1234." Your net worth is the same either way.
Rental properties
Add the monthly rent and expenses in the property's note so Mezzi AI can take them into account when you ask about cash flow or planning.
Shared ownership
Mezzi doesn't track partial ownership yet. If you own part of a property, enter your share of its value (and your share of the mortgage, if you add one here).
Important Notes
Property values don't update automatically. Update the value when you have a new estimate.
To remove a property, see how to delete a manually added asset.
